Who is Zella Bella?

Hello, I am Zella Bella, also known as “Elizabeth Sager”. I received a bachelor of fine arts in musical theater and opera performance in the late 1980’s. This led to a wide variety of jobs including waiting tables, handing out fliers at Times Square, checking coats, and, yes, performing in a variety of theatrical venues. One of these jobs was as a performer / teacher at a children’s theater. Here I taught movement, music, and dramatic play to children between the ages of three and five. I loved it, and seriously considered pursuing it as a specialty. I decided, however, that I would rather try to “make it big” (the dream of every performer) and focused on auditioning.

Over the next 30 years, I slowly transitioned from performer to stage manager to administrative professional. Something was lacking, though, and I ended up leaving the business world in 2016 to pursue a more meaningful career. I ended up being an entertainer at a memory care facility within an assisted living community. I put together lesson plans involving art, movement, music, and various sensory activities… very similar to the work I fell in love all those years ago.

I loved, loved, loved working with the elderly, but I knew that my heart was with those just starting on their life’s journey. I ended up leaving the Senior Center to form my own children’s entertainment company named (you guessed it) “Zella Bella’s Gaggle of Giggles”.

In conjunction with Zella Bella, I am also a lead teacher of young toddlers at The Owl’s Nest Early Learning Center, located in Blairstown, NJ. In my class I teach children utilizing a combination of activities very similar to those of Zella Bella.

I consider myself to be completely blessed; it is not often one can say that they love their jobs. I am lucky enough to say that I love both Zella Bella and The Owl’s Nest.

In my personal life, I am a happily married women. I live in Blairstown, NJ with my husband, two Old English Sheepdogs, a Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog, three cats, two rats, two gerbils, and one horse.

Stay Young at Heart,

Elizabeth, a.k.a. Zella Bella
